Ourida (voice), Jeff Miles (guitar) The separation between Algerian roots, American modernism and French chanson finds a common ground in Ourida’s avant-garde songwriting and sultry voice - urban songs mixing folk rock, art pop melodies, world beat undertones and jazz grooves. Ourida is a French-Algerian songwriter, singer and pianist, a Brooklyn resident who experienced multiple uprootings. After her debut album ‘Monkeys’, she played in Brazil and Canada before moving to NYC, where she recorded with Jonathan Levy on bass and Joe Hertenstein on drums the album ‘Wings’. Produced by Eli Crews (tUnE-yArDs, Marc Ribot…), ‘Wings’ is an indie pop / art rock / alternative album with a touch of world music, a party of sensual songs about multicultural life and women’s freedom of expression.
Jeff Miles is an innovative composer and an impressive guitarist, with a wide musical palette. This duet project ‘Vision in our minds’ mixes songs of freedom and love with the intensity of Nyc daily life: a unic sound.
