Carmen Quill (bass), Hamir Atwal (drums), Kenny Warren (trumpet), and Raffi Garabedian (tenor saxophone) form a forward-looking quartet grounded in improvisation, deep listening, and shared musical curiosity. Based primarily in New York City—where Carmen, Hamir, and Kenny are deeply active in the creative and jazz communities. The group is joined by Oakland-based saxophonist Raffi Garabedian, whose distinctive voice brings a rich, narrative-driven sensibility to the ensemble’s sound.
Their music blurs lines between structure and spontaneity, weaving through lyrical melodies, open textures, and shifting rhythmic frameworks. Drawing on each member’s diverse background—from free jazz to chamber music, folk, and electronic influences, the quartet builds a highly responsive musical environment. What emerges is a conversation that’s both grounded and exploratory: rooted in tradition yet pushing toward new terrain with every session.
