Improvised music at DADA, curated by Ryan Ebaugh

RICHARDS / MEANSTREETZ / EBAUGH trio set

Stevie Richards, Mike Meanstreetz, and Ryan Ebaugh are touring the East Coast, coming together from Southern California and Australia. Performing for the first time as a trio, the group focuses on improvised music, using open structures, extended techniques, and real-time interaction.

Manuel J. Perez III / Nathan Chamberlain/ Orchid Mcrae trio set

Manuel J. Perez III is an interdisciplinary artist, performer-composer-improviser, and researcher based in the bicoastal regions of New England and southern California, USA. Their practice is inspired by the formative and revelatory aspects of performativity, sociality, self-expression, and spontaneous action. Their artwork often integrates performance art, free improvisation, experimental composition, collage, datamoshing, architecture, poetry, and/or artificial intelligence. They collaborate  with people from all walks of life and have shared their work internationally.

Orchid McRae is a percussionist, composer, improviser, and mixed media artist based in NYC. Her deeply collaborative process is often centered around structured pieces that ignore or subvert the dimension of “time” in music. Orchid’s work fuses song, improvisation, and dense ensemble figures to explore themes of queerness, violence, and tropes in contemporary media. In addition to her own work and frequent improvisation-based collaborations, she is a member of the collaborative ensemble Dot Iso and the rock band Kissy Noises. In late 2024, she launched EXOSKELETON, a performance series dedicated to structures built outside of/in support of the body. https://orchiddbb.space/

Stan Zenkov solo set

Stan Zenkov is a New York based multi-instrumentalist and improviser. He plays in groups and as a soloist on clarinet, bass clarinet, tenor and alto saxophones with a focus on improvised music as a thing in and of itself, and as means of inquiry into the mysteries and transformative properties of the human perception of sound.
