Cocoon is a collaboration between photographer/visual artist Florencia Alvarado and musician/music therapist Erik Gundel. Through hyper-detailed environmental images and abstracted soundscapes, the duo transforms a potentially fraught urban space within New York City into one immersed in the comforting sights, sounds, and smells of flora.

Originally from Vermont, Erik Gundel is a musician and music therapist living in Queens. His work explores alternate modes of consciousness, either through meditative ambience or self-contained alien sound worlds. He also performs and records with the art-pop band Gemma.

Florencia Alvarado ( Venezuela) is a visual artist, photographer and designer based in New York. Her work explores the photographic medium through digital art, still life and collage. Her work has been exhibited in Museums, Galleries and Festivals in New York, Madrid, Melbourne, São Paulo, Caracas, Medellin.
