Jazz - Celine Kang Quartet / Nathan Nakagegawa-Lee Trio

Guitarist Celine Kang and Saxophonist Nathan Nakadegawa-Lee perform original and improvised music with their group. Celine Kang will be joined by Ivan Chen on piano, Colson Jimenez on bass, and Ches Smith on drums. Nathan Nakadegawa-Lee will be joined by William Parker on bass and Marc Edwards on drums.

Celine (Suh Yeon) Kang is a guitarist, composer, and improviser based in New York. Influenced by European improvised music and Black American music, her work blends dense composed materials, non-traditional improvisations, and textural soundscapes. Celine began her career in music as a recording artist and live performer, primarily performing in Gospel, R&B, and Rock. Her current work focuses on improvised music and original compositions.

Oakland born, NYC based saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer Nathan Nakadegawa-Lee embodies a striking mix of sounds deriving from experimental, vocal, blues, and jazz traditions. He has appeared with generational artists such as Billy Martin, Faye Carol, Azure McCall, Selendis Johnson, Mali Obomsawin, and Lesley Mok. He insistently runs a house show series "Bellcave" from his Queens basement.
